IRVING, N.Y. — A new hotel and indoor waterpark project is set to break ground later this summer. The development is coming to Irving near Sunset Bay in Northern Chautauqua County.
According to County Development officials, MMM Real Estate Development Incorporated is making the $10 million investment in the property on Route 20.
Officials say, during the summer, Sunset Bay Beach on Lake Erie, draws about 10,000 people each weekend, but the only lodging available is weekly and monthly rentals. They also say that the project will create 150 new jobs.
"And that's probably conservative. Between the hotel, the water park, the banquet facilities, the restaurant, the commercial strip plaza and then a fast food restaurant on that location," said Bill Daly, Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency.
The new hotel's parking lot will also lead directly to the snowmobile trail system, helping to make it a year round destination.
