BUFFALO, N.Y. – They are two faces you may not recognize, but voices that will live forever in your minds.

"The Bills have won it, the Bills have won it!"

"Fires down the middle, caught, touchdown. Touchdown Buffalo!”

In its 50-plus year history in the NFL, there have only been two men who have held the title of "Voice of the Bills."

For 37 years, it was Van Miller.

"I broadcast four Super Bowls, all of them losing,” said Miller. “They had to restrain me when Scott Norwood missed the kick that would have won the game."

The Dunkirk native, now celebrating his 85th birthday this year, still lives in Western New York. He's still haunted by the four straight Super Bowl losses, but is reminded of happier times, like this one.

"Wright puts it down. The kick is on the way and it is good! The Bills have won it, the Bills have won it!"

The so-called "greatest comeback in NFL history", when the Bills came from 32 points down in the second half to beat the Oilers in the 1993 AFC Wild-card game. In 2004, Miller turned the mic over to current "Voice of the Bills,” John Murphy.

"There have been many high points, many great games over the years,” said Murphy. “There have been almost too many to mention. I tend to forget about the low points and remember the high points."

Murphy has worked in the Bills organization for 28 years, eight of them as broadcaster.
The Lockport native, now watching every play, every Sunday, and he loves it.

"If you don't coach or you don't play, we're probably the next ring of involvement in terms of being tuned into the game,” said Murphy. “There is study required throughout the course of the week to get ready for the game just like the coach and players. Obviously when they kick it off you have to perform. I really love it. I love it a lot."

Two men, with a strong love for the Buffalo Bills, who although you may not recognize their faces, you sure know their voices, through the good times, and the bad.
