The national spotlight is shining on Jamestown as Olympic champions are getting ready for this weekends Skating and Gymnastics Spectacular. YNN's Mark Goshgarian tells us what ticket holders can expect during the televised event.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — They wowed us in London...

"For a lot of us, a dream come true to be able to be in a show with the brand new Olympic champions from the London Olympics," said Steven Cousins, Artistic Director and Choreographer.

...and they'll soon shine again in Jamestown.

"It's immensely exciting to be able to come to Jamestown and put something like this together," said Cousins.

The stage was literally being set Thursday for this weekends Progressive Skating and Gymnastics Spectacular at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena downtown.

National champion figure skaters will join this years Olympic gold medal gymnasts Gabby Douglas, Jordyn Wieber and others for a number of routines.

"We're hoping that we're going to have a really nice blend and integrate the gymnastics with the skating quite well... it's a real hip and trendy up and coming show," said Cousins.

The performance is sold out, with more than 2,000 people set to pack the arena.

"It shows what we're capable of here, and hopefully it'll be, you know, it'll be a means to get other events like this... and musicians and artists will open up their eyes and take a look at Jamestown and take a look at this arena as an optional venue for some of their events," said Kurt Silcott, Arena CEO.

"Having a nationally produced and aired production like this from Jamestown New York is advertising and promotion that uh you can't place a value on, so this is huge," said Sam Teresi, (D) Jamestown Mayor.

The event is also expected to draw thousands of visitors downtown.

"Any stores that are down here, any restaurants, pubs or bars that are open in the area, there going to see a drastic increase this weekend and that's wonderful because so many places are in walking distance of not only our hotel but also the arena," said Robin Mullen, Best Western Plus General Manager.

The show will air nationally on January 19th.
