Final beam at Buffalo Creek Casino set into place

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Seneca Nation is on track for a fall opening of its new Buffalo Creek Casino.

Nation leaders and members of the Seneca Gaming Corporation celebrated the "topping off" ceremony for the building on Tuesday morning.

Local construction workers set the final steel beam into place for the casino, a $130 million dollar project on the nation's Buffalo Creek Territory.

President Barry Snyder says, once complete, the casino will have created about 600 construction jobs, and about 500 direct jobs will follow once it's in operation.

While smaller than what was originally planned for the site, Snyder says the new casino will create a lot of excitement downtown.

"Our sole intention in the city of Buffalo is to continue to build upon the success we have created and to develop a world-class facility that will help attract crucial mass of visitors to the city's Inner and Outer Harbor, the Cobblestone district, Larkin district and beyond," Snyder said.

The facility will feature 800 slot machines, 16 table games and a restaurant with a menu full of favorite Buffalo dishes. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
