As the winter weather picks up across the region, travelers looking to fly out of the area will be feeling the impact. YNN's Kate McGowan joins us from the Buffalo Niagara International Airport on what's to come with flight cancellations and delays.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. -- It was business as usual at the airport Friday morning.

"So far so good. The airport looks good right now," explained a traveler.

But some arrived to find their flights either delayed hours or canceled completely.

"My husband was actually very afraid of that. He still thinks will spend most of the day at the airport," a traveler exclaimed.

Thousands of flights have been disrupted across the country, as a Nor'easter storm moves up through the New England area. That storm is having a trickle down effect to all major airport hubs.

"I was thinking about it yesterday more actually and fortunately our cruise line has called us up. We were supposed to leave tomorrow so they called us up and asked us if we'd do today just to be proactive and make sure we get on the cruise."

The snow will fall continuously in Western New York through the day and evening.

But down in New York City, it will fall for about 36 hours, which will of course cause a headache for travelers.

A group of people heading to Orlando said they're keeping an optimistic outlook about making it out by thinking of the warm weather ahead.

"We're going to be in the water and on the boat," expressed one traveler.

Another one said, "Tomorrow morning, I'll probably wake up and look at the news and say 'oh yeah, Buffalo has got 12 inches of snow and it's 4 degrees and I'm in Florida!"

As of Friday afternoon, there were more than 40 arriving and departing flights delayed or canceled. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
