POMFRET, N.Y. — An urn that was missing for nearly a year after it was stolen in Chautauqua County was suddenly returned this week to its rightful owner.
Sheriff's deputies say the urn was stolen from a house on Van Buren Road in the town of Pomfret back in April.
On Thursday, the victim went outside to walk her dogs, and found the urn, containing the ashes of her husband, in a bag on the porch.
Police are currently looking for fingerprints or DNA.
It's not clear why it was suddenly returned.
