Man faces prison time after admitting to violating meat inspection act

  • Text size: + -

ALLEGANY COUNTY, N.Y. — An Allegany County man pleaded guilty Friday to a charge of violating the Federal Meat Inspection Act.

U.S. Attorneys say 38-year-old Keath Middaugh of Scio bought dead, diseased, or disabled animals without registering them with the Department of Agriculture.

Under the Federal Meat Inspection Act, any person handling such animals is required to register with the USDA.

Middaugh faces up to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine when he's sentenced in May.
