Another Western New York County has voted in favor of repealing the SAFE Act. Before the vote, more than 150 people showed up to protest New York's new gun law. YNN's Natalia Martinez was there.

The U.S. flag did not stop waiving on windy Tuesday afternoon among the dozens of posters protesting the SAFE Act.

"Repeal this law, Governor Cuomo," one man told us.

Tuesday night was a victory for protestors who made their voices heard.

"We gotta support the legislature. Finally they are supporting to repeal the SAFE Act. It isn't going to get anywhere. I, I doubt it to a certain extent, but we got to support it," protest organizer David Mongielo said.

Men, children, and mothers were among the more than 150 people who braved the cold.

"It's important that moms stand up for their rights too. Not only their husbands but us are able to protect their house as well," Newfane resident Marion Clevley explained.

Another woman told us she believes there should be tougher gun laws for people with mental health issues, but that the SAFE ACT takes it too far.

"Everyone didn't have time to properly read the law, to understand it, to question anything, to question what needs to be done compared to what has to be done," Gasport resident Terri Farina told YNN.

Mongielo said his goal was to educate people about the power of a grass roots movement to impact government.

"There's hope in the system, but they have to take part in it," Mongielo said.

Last week, the Cattaraugus County legislature also voted to repeal the SAFE ACT. They joined several other counties across the state, including Niagara.
